Hybrid Protectors - MSP®

Using a combination of the best of two technologies, the Bourns® Multi-Stage Protector (MSP®) 5-pin station protectors provide surge protection. The Bourns® MSP® product is the optimum solution for broadband voice and data lines because of the combination of high energy handling of a three-electrode gas discharge tube with the quick response of solid-state Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs), providing superior protection.

With solid-state MOVs for rapid response to surges, gas discharge tubes for robust surge energy handling, low capacitance for minimal bandwidth reduction, elimination of air-back-up gap for extended service life, and switch-grade fail-short for maximum fire protection, power protection and safety is top notch. 

Due to the shrinking length of wireline telecommunication networks, current electronic equipment is increasingly prone to larger energy surges due to the constantly shorter cable lengths and lower pair counts. In order to deliver extraordinarily high surge carrying levels while simultaneously decreasing bandwidth-limiting capacitance, MSP® devices use proprietary technology.
