ChipGuard® ESD Suppressors

Bourns manufactures a broad variety of components that provide ESD protection at the system level. From ChipGuard® devices to TVS diode arrays, Bourns offers the components you need to assist your product fulfill system level ESD requirements.

ChipGuard® ESD Suppressors, which use ceramic technology, are available from Bourns as an alternate ESD protection solution. Because of the high initial resistance, it has a voltage threshold at which it operates. With an increase in voltage, the resistance of the device decreases, causing an exponential rise in the current flowing through the device. Overvoltage disturbances may be diverted away from the protected circuit while energy is dissipated inside the protector. Once the electrical disturbance has subsided, the ESD suppressor will revert to its high-resistance off-state. As a result of the technology's ultra-low capacitance rating of 0.05 pF at their highest rating, they are particularly well suited for high speed applications.
