Bourns® IsoMOV® Hybrid Protectors Earn IEC 61051-2 Certificate of Conformity and are UL 1449 Listed

With features that extend application service life and enhance reliability, IsoMOV® protectors are the first hybrid surge protection devices to receive both global standards

RIVERSIDE, Calif., May 1, 2025 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, today announced its innovatively designed IsoMOV® hybrid protectors have earned the IEC 61051-2 Certificate of Compliance and are UL 1449 listed. Bourns® IsoMOV® protectors are the first hybrid surge protection devices to have met the stringent tests and documentation required by these global standards. Now, designers can confidently add the longevity and high reliability benefits IsoMOV® protectors provide to a growing group of key market applications where IEC certification is a prerequisite.

The Bourns® IsoMOV® protector is a fully integrated GDT and MOV hybrid design that combines both devices into a single package, allowing the GDT to block leakage currents through the MOV that may lead to premature failure. It provides an elevated level of surge protection in terms of performance, operational life and enhanced device reliability. Because this compact hybrid design features performance specifications usually found in larger traditional MOV devices, Bourns® IsoMOV® protectors enable designers to better tailor the surge protection performance to their stringent space requirements.
