With their increased functionality, today’s telecommunication circuits are much more susceptible to damage caused by outside transients than previous designs. Bourns® Line Protection Modules (LPMs) provide protection for these circuits against disturbances caused by lightning and power cross. Bourns® LPMs are designed to survive a disturbance, and if necessary fail safely, while protecting downstream components from damage.
Bourns® LPMs typically include a pair of resistors with intregal thermal fuses, which provide current limiting in a circuit protection scheme. The resistors are closely matched, so as not to impact circuit function. The unique construction of Bourns® LPMs allows them to dissipate high-energy transients with little change in performance.
When combined with overvoltage protection, such as Bourns® TISP® Thyristor Surge Protectors, Bourns® LPMs provide the necessary protection required to meet Bellcore, ITU, and UL specifications.
Bourns offers Telecom Design Kits that include this product line.
