LED Shunt Protectors (LSPs)

Circuit protection is becoming more important as the demand for LEDs grows and the technology becomes the preferred lighting source. Using Bourns® LED Shunt Protectors helps prevent failures in high reliability LED lighting applications. In the event of an open LED, the whole LED string will go black, compromising the application. This can lead to warranty returns or maintenance calls. Incorporating Bourns® LSP Series shunt protectors into an LED design enables the healthy LEDs in the string to remain illuminated by shunting current around the inoperable open circuit LED. The LSP Series of open LED shunt protectors provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional solutions including street lighting, lighting fixtures and backlight signage systems.

Using Bourns® LSP devices helps to minimize design costs. These devices are designed with flexibility in mind to help engineers select the optimal solution to balance the cost and failure impacts for each application.
