Bourns Introduces New G.Fast and LAN Transformers for DSL and Ethernet/PoE Applications

RIVERSIDE, Calif., May 16, 2016 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today introduced two new transformer products -- a G.Fast Transformer, Model SM51430EL, and a LAN 10/100/1000 Base-T Transformer, Model SM51625EL. Standards based, Bourns designed its latest G.Fast transformers to meet IEC 60950-1, Functional Grade of Insulation and its LAN transformers to comply with IEEE802.3 standards.

Bourns’ compact G.Fast Transformer Model SM51430EL is an optimized DSL application solution for local loops less than 500 meters. With a targeted performance speed of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps), Bourns’ new G.Fast Transformer is ideally suited for use with the Broadcom® G.Fast chipset BCM6594x and BCM6524x, and Microsemi® line driver Le87282. It offers an operating temperature range of 0 to +85 °C and 1.5 kVrms isolation voltage.

Bourns’ latest Model SM51625EL product is a single-port, potted construction LAN 10/100/1000 Base-T transformer designed for Ethernet applications. It features Power over Ethernet (PoE+) current capability up to 1.2 ADC per center tap, an extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85 °C and 1.5 kVrms isolation voltage.

“After speaking with our customers, we expanded our line of electrical isolation solutions to meet ongoing application design requirements and address the need to protect circuits, electronic equipment and people,” said Guido Zehnder, product line manager at Bourns. “Specifically supporting G.Fast designs, Bourns understands that effective line driver protection solutions will play a significant role in the transitioning of telecom copper lines into the Gigabit era.”
