Riverside, Calif., February 9, 2020
Dear Customer,
As we reported on January 29, 2020, our manufacturing facilities in the City of Xiamen and in the City of Dongguan are expected to re-open on February 10, 2020 after the end of the extended Chinese government-mandated shut-down due to the 2019 Coronavirus.
The City of Xiamen governmental authority has recently issued a new restriction for workers returning from outside of Fujian Province. These workers must remain at home in isolation for 14 days commencing from the day of return to the City of Xiamen. This new restriction is expected to substantially affect Bourns' ability to restart production at its Xiamen manufacturing plant and make shipments from that facility.
As of this date, the City of Dongguan has not issued similar restrictions to Xiamen on workers returning from outside of Guangdong Province and our Dongguan manufacturing facility is expected to reopen on February 10, 2020. However, we nevertheless expect that some employees may not be able to return to the Dongguan plant on the reopening date because of restrictions imposed by other locations, such as Hubei Province, and difficulties with transportation.
Bourns is evaluating whether to declare a force majeure event for performance dependent upon its People's Republic of China based facilities due to the impact of the 2019 Coronavirus.
Bourns will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as required. For further information, customers should contact their local Bourns representative.
Yours truly,
BOURNS, INC.
