RIVERSIDE, Calif., May 26, 2026 - As electric power steering systems and steer-by-wire architectures place tighter demands on position and torque measurement, Bourns will exhibit its inductive sensing solutions for automotive steering applications at the 2026 ATC Shanghai International Automotive Chassis System Technology Exhibition, June 3–5, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The company will exhibit at Booth #E56049.
Bourns’ steering sensor portfolio includes torque angle sensors (TAS), steering angle sensors (SAS), and linear position sensors (LPS). These products target applications in electric power steering and chassis systems where ADAS integration requires precise, fault-tolerant position data across the operating temperature range. Bourns automotive grade components are manufactured in IATF 16949-certified facilities, and are compliant to applicable AEC-Q standards, and supported by PPAP Level 3 documentation.
The portfolio uses a platform-based hardware architecture, allowing OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to apply common mechanical and electrical interfaces across multiple vehicle programs.
Technical Forum Presentation
Felix Merkle, Product Line Manager for Bourns Steering Sensors, will present at the ATC Shanghai Technical Forum from 14:20 to 14:45 on June 3. His session will examine inductive sensing as an alternative to resolver-based and Hall-effect approaches in modern steering systems—covering measurement principle, interference immunity, functional safety considerations, and architectural fit for current EPS and emerging steer-by-wire designs.
“Steering systems in electrified and ADAS-equipped vehicles require position and torque measurement that remains accurate under high electromagnetic load and across a wide thermal range,” said Merkle. “Inductive sensing addresses those constraints in ways that magnetic sensors handle less cleanly, and we’ll walk through the tradeoffs at the forum.”
Bourns engineers will be available at Booth #E56049 throughout the exhibition to review application requirements and discuss interface specifications with OEMs and Tier 1 engineers.
