Engineered for today’s demanding applications, new foil resistors deliver high precision, stability and performance
RIVERSIDE, Calif., December 2, 2025 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, today announced four Riedon™ Foil Resistor Series by Bourns. The FWP227 Series, FWP218 Series, FWP220/221 Series and FWU Series are engineered to match demanding application needs for high precision, stability, performance and reliability.
These latest foil resistors feature high power ratings from 6 to 80 W, resistance values of 0.001 ohms to 150k ohms, excellent long-term stability and a TCR of ±1 to ±300 ppm/°C. The four series are constructed with a metal foil resistive element mounted on a ceramic substrate that provides excellent heat conductivity. Delivering additional design advantages, the metal foil resistive element also affords very low inductance, low noise and enhanced reliability. These construction benefits make the Riedon™ FWU, FWP218, FWP220/221, and FWP227x Series Foil Resistors by Bourns optimal measurement and control solutions for a broad range of applications that include current sensing, industrial, consumer, telecommunication, Battery Management Systems (BMS), DC-DC converter and motor drive designs.
The new resistor families are available in the following package types, enabling designers to match application-specific requirements:
- The FWP227 Series in a TO-227 package
- The FWP218 Series in a TO-247 package
- The FWP220 Series in TO-220 and D2PAK packages
- The FWP221 Series in TO-221 package
- The FWU Series in TO-220 and D2PAK packages
The Riedon™ FWU, FWP218, FWP220/221, and FWP227x Series Foil Resistors by Bourns are available now and are RoHS* compliant. For additional information, please see:
