Overcurrent protection devices, such as Bourns® TCS™ High-Speed Protectors (HSPs), are used to guard against overcurrent. This kind of circuit protection is frequently used in conjunction with low capacitance TVS devices to provide fault protection. It creates a very low let-through energy barrier to high voltages or currents, which works as an effective barrier during surge events. A TCS™ HSP device is designed to trigger at a predetermined current level while also providing a moderate degree of foldback. Among its major characteristics are its 50 ns reaction time, low let-through energy, low series resistance, well-matched channel to channel resistance, minimal insertion loss, and three trigger current levels which have no impact on differential signal balance. This contributes to lower product repair costs.
Because of its enhanced protection for extremekinly high data rate differential lines, the Bourns® TCS™ High-Speed Protector provides greater protection against faults caused by momentary short circuits, induction and lightning surges. High-speed, low-voltage driver and receiver components are less susceptible to damage as a result of this.
