RIVERSIDE, Calif., September 27, 2016 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced that for the seventh consecutive year, the company will host the three-day Science and Technology Education Partnership (STEP) student and teacher conference in Riverside, California. Started in 2000, STEP is the first organization of its kind in the region, and has a charter to help close the skills gap between local K-12 students and the employment needs of the high-tech industry. Expecting to host 5,000 area students and their teachers from Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, this year's STEP conference will be held on October 3-5, 2017 at the Bourns Technology Center.
The highlights of the 2017 STEP conference include hands-on science experiments, interactive technology exhibits, exciting stage presentations and more than 40 interactive display booths in the Oh! Zone and Discover Zone. Guiding students and teachers are talented engineer and scientist volunteers from high tech companies and organizations throughout Southern California.
"It is so exciting every year to help ignite the fire of imagination of both students and teachers in the many STEP fields of science, technology, engineering and math," said Gordon Bourns, CEO at Bourns, Inc. "This year the conference organizers have developed a more comprehensive program designed to spark student interest in pursuing promising high-tech careers. If past conferences are any indication, I believe we will see many future technology professionals being originally inspired at STEP."
