Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced that the company has expanded its product portfolio to include new guitar and slide potentiometers, Bourns® Model PDB182-GTRB and Bourns Model PSM, and is re-releasing Bourns Model 82 vintage guitar potentiometer. Bourns Model PDB182-GTRB Series is a “blend-balance” guitar potentiometer designed for use as a balance control device for two guitar pick-ups, where the volume level of each pick-up can be blended by utilizing a single dual-gang control. Bourns Model PSM Series motorized master slide potentiometer is suitable for use in automated professional audio and broadcast mixing consoles. The re-release of Bourns Model 82 vintage guitar potentiometer is in response to continued demand by master luthiers from around the world. All three potentiometer products will be displayed and demonstrated at the 2010 NAMM Show, January 14-17, 2010, in Bourns’ booth #1548 (Hall E) at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
“Bourns continues as a leading technology supplier to the professional audio industry, and the company’s new guitar and slide potentiometers and the re-release of Bourns Model 82 vintage guitar potentiometer at the 2010 NAMM show highlights the growing demand for the company’s specialized products,” said Chuck Manzano, product marketing manager in Bourns’ resistive products division. “These announcements also reinforce our commitment to our professional audio customers and demonstrate the company’s expertise in developing future advancements in the industry.”
The new Bourns Model PDB182-GTRB Series of blend-balance guitar potentiometers are designed with features often requested by master luthiers such as plain or knurled shaft options, 3/8” diameter brass bushing, 250 k and 500 k standard resistance values, special M and N audio tapers and a center detent. The unique M and N audio tapers provide volume blending capability to the guitarist and are why this custom guitar potentiometer is sometimes referred to as a “blend-balance pot.”
Designed specifically for use in automated professional audio and broadcast mixing consoles, Bourns Model PSM Series of motorized master slide potentiometers feature a long life carbon element, touch sense lever, servo track, PC terminals or snap-in connector option and a variety of standard resistance values and taper options.
Bourns Model 82 vintage guitar potentiometer features a knurled metal shaft, + 10% TR tolerance, 250 k and 500 k standard resistance values, conductive polymer element for low noise, standard 10% audio taper and a long rotational life (up to 100 k cycles). Recognized for its “Bourns blue” color, this custom guitar potentiometer was originally designed and produced for major guitar manufacturers in the late 1970s and is the culmination of popular features widely requested by master luthiers. All three models of potentiometers are also RoHS* compliant.
