The overvoltage models utilize Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) and Solid State (SS) protector technologies to provide primary protection for electronic equipment of twisted-pair circuits. The overcurrent (sneak-current) models combine overvoltage protection with additional heat-coils or Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor (PTCR) technology.
