SUMMARY
Designs, develops, and evaluates sensor assemblies for the automotive industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Identify customer needs and develop electronic designs to meet all applicable requirements.
- Identify appropriate sensing technology and organizes functional model development (including design, building, and testing) to verify sensor design concepts.
- Perform analog design, digital design, and embedded firmware design for sensors.
- Selection of appropriate electronic components including: microprocessors, ASICs, analog interfaces, and power interfaces for high volume, low cost products.
- Uses common automotive design tools for circuit design, requirements capture, circuit analysis, diagnostics and module communication.
- Real time programming in C and Assembly for Intel/Motorola/Microchip 8-bit microcontrollers.
- Procure prototype PCBs and perform testing to ensure correct operation.
- Test and debug of complex electronic circuits.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, DFMEA, prototype process flows, specifications, and other types of engineering documentation including Design Validation plans.
- Coordinate efforts with customer engineering to provide necessary technical support.
- Identify, track, and resolve open issues for products under development.
- Review and identify changes to detailed drawing sets and specifications from design concept stage through production at the component and assembly level. Perform statistical analysis such as SPC, to verify part/process conformance/capabilities.
- Perform prototype product failure analysis on customer returns, scrap & DV/PV parts and reports results.
- Work with and/or direct Technicians and Designers in product development activities.
- Interface with peers, technical resources outside of the company (university professors, etc.), vendors and customers.
- Meet the requirements of the Concept to Customer (C to C) System.
- Maintain compliance to current ISO standards and customer specific requirements as applicable.
- Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with High Performance teams, continuous improvement goals, and values of Bourns Automotive Division.

Field Application Engineer – Telecom Business Unit – Germany
We are seeking a candidate to create demand and provide technical and design assistance to Telecom/Datacom OEM customers located in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. Identify and specify new product opportunities to drive new products into Product Engineering including the identification of market trends that may impact our business.
Based in Europe (Sauerlach/Germany) with extensive travel (>50%), this position will provide an opportunity to work with some of the largest telecom companies to help develop and deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Bourns Limited is based in Bedford and has an established reputation as a leading manufacturer of Circuit Protection Semiconductors, primarily serving the Telecom Industry. The Company is a key division of the Bourns Electronics Group, which is a significant player in the global market for Electronic Components and Integrated Solutions.
This exciting and challenging position is a key role for the continued and future success of the Telecom Division of Bourns.
A key member of the Telecom Division's Executive Staff and reporting directly to the Telecom Division General Manager, the Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for developing a Strategic Plan for the Semiconductors Product Lines in accordance with the Market Segment Strategies of Bourns and the Company's ambitious revenue and profit growth objectives. This includes in particular the definition of detailed Marketing (product and services, positioning, Go-to-Market...), Manufacturing and Acquisition Strategies, as well as resource planning.
Managing the Factory Application and Product Line Marketing Teams, the PLM organizes the deployment of the Product Line Strategy, in collaboration with the Market Segment Teams, the Engineering and Operations Team, the Division GM, suppliers and Channel Partners. This entails prioritization, scheduling and tracking of development projects, product introductions, and the addition of Products or product lines organically or through acquisition.
Responsible for the P&L of $50 million pa Product Lines, the PLM will develop, monitor and act on business and product development metrics to ensure that strategic and tactical objectives are met or exceeded. The PLM is responsible for the short term and long term financial planning of the Product Lines.
Position Requirements: BS/technical degree from an accredited four-year college or university is mandatory. Graduate work in Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing is desirable. Diversified experience in the disciplines of engineering, marketing, technical, sales, product management and program management is essential.
Financial acumen required, along with the ability to demonstrate the potential to grow into future roles with increasing responsibilities.
The candidate must possess a combination of advanced strategic skills acquired in similar position(s), as well as excellent attention to detail, accountability and sense of urgency.
